A Ladder I Can Climb

from In This Old House by Beth Williams Music

/

about

This song shares my personal experience with depression, despair, alcoholism and defeat. Those who have suffered with these feelings will understand. How painful when we feel, as did King David in the Bible.

"My God, My God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from helping me, and from the word of my moaning. O My God, I cry in the daytime, but you do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent." Psalm 22:1 & 2

Immediately after that, David wrote :

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restore my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23: 1-3

lyrics

I'm down a little too low
Or the road is just too high
Hot no way to go
Out of this creek bed that is dry

Send me a ladder or throw me a line
Send me a ladder I can climb yea

Spinning wheels
Kickin' hot dust in the air
You'd think by now I would know
Spinning don't get me nowhere

Send me a ladder or throw me a line
Send me a ladder I can climb

I've tried and I've tried and I've tried,
What else can I do?
I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired
Of waiting on you ...yea yea yea

I've got my hands up
So would you please be so kind
As to tell little miss lady luck
It sure nuff would be fine if she could
